About the Journal

How we research

Who writes the Journal, where the facts and photos come from, and how we keep ourselves honest.

Who we are

The FiniteFabric Journal is written by the FiniteFabric Press team. We make large-print puzzle books and personalized printables for families, sold on Amazon and in our Etsy shops. Our line is simple: time is finite, so spend it together. The Journal is where we share ideas for doing exactly that, the kind we would use at our own tables.

Where our facts come from

When we state a fact, we link it right where it appears. We favor primary sources: peer-reviewed studies (usually through PubMed, the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s database), public health agencies such as the National Institute on Aging and the World Health Organization, and large surveys from organizations such as Pew Research Center and AARP. Each article ends with a short “Where this comes from” list.

Stories and scenes

We tell stories, and we keep them honest. When an article says “Picture…”, it is describing a scene to imagine, not a real family. When we tell a real person’s story, it comes from a published source that we link, such as an interview or a newspaper essay. We never invent customers, quotes or testimonials.

Photos

Our photos are real photographs, not AI images. Most come from Unsplash under the Unsplash License, and every one is credited to its photographer in the caption, even though the license does not require it. Nobody pictured has endorsed our products.

How we check

  • Every claim against its source. Before an article is published, each factual sentence is checked against the source it links, and a second, independent review reads the article looking for anything overstated.
  • Links, not proof. Many studies show that two things go together, not that one causes the other. When that is the case, we say so in the sentence itself.
  • No medical advice. Some topics touch on health, such as puzzles and the aging brain. We report what research has found, and we point to a doctor for anything about symptoms or care.
  • Tools we use. We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. Every fact is checked against its source before we publish.

Our own products

Where one of our puzzles or printables genuinely fits an idea in an article, we mention it and label the box “From our shop.” We never let a product change what the research says. Many ideas in the Journal need nothing but paper and a pencil, and our free printable puzzles need no sign-up.

Corrections

If you spot an error, we want to know: send us a message through our Etsy shop. We correct mistakes promptly and update the date at the top of the article.
